Born in a difficult season. Built to help others through theirs.

Daily Pastures was born during one of the most difficult seasons of my life.

I was going through multiple challenges coming from different directions. In the midst of all that, my mother became very ill and later passed, and several other pressures were happening at the same time.

For more than 25 years, meditating on the Word of God had been one of the primary ways I stayed grounded. Whenever life became difficult, I turned to Scripture. God’s Word helped steady my mind, renew my faith and keep the pressures around me from overwhelming me.

But during this particular season, I became so busy and emotionally burdened that I struggled to make time for the very thing I needed most.

I realised that if I was not careful, the weight of everything could pull me towards depression. I needed a system that would intentionally bring me back to the Word every day and help me meditate on Scriptures that spoke directly to what I was facing.

So I built one.

I created a simple Python automation that delivered a personalised, Scripture-centred devotional to me every day through Telegram. I could share the particular challenge I was going through, and the devotional would guide me to meditate on God’s Word in relation to that situation.

It began as a personal tool to help me remain spiritually grounded.

After using it for a few months, my wife and daughters wanted to experience it too. My daughters had recently left home for college, and desired to get grounded in the Word while away. I wanted them to have the same kind of daily, personalised encouragement that had been strengthening me.

Because the original automation required technical configuration, I could not simply hand it over to them. That is when I decided to turn it into an application.

Today, my wife and I begin our mornings with Daily Pastures, and it has been a great blessing to us.

One of our daughters shared how she had been going through some challenges while in college. She said:

Daddy, I poured out my heart to God via the app and the very first devotional I received, I broke down in tears, not because of sadness but because of how encouraged I felt. It was as if a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders.

That is the heart of Daily Pastures.

It is my personal experience of God carrying me through an extremely difficult season by His Word — and my desire to make that same experience available to others.

My prayer is that every person who uses it will encounter Christ, be strengthened by the truth of God’s Word and discover renewed hope for the season they are facing.
